Dr. Peffley graduated from Fullerton Union High School (California) in 1990, before heading to the University of Oregon. In 1994, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He then attended medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was his class president all four years.
In May 2000, Dr. Peffley graduated from med school, earning his D.O. degree. He then traveled to Washington to complete his internship at Naval Hospital Bremerton. Instead of going straight through residency, he took a two year hiatus to be the general medical officer aboard the USS RAINIER (AOE 7). In 2003, he returned to NH Bremerton to complete his family medicine residency.
In 2005, Dr. Peffley became board certified in Family Medicine. His first assignment was as a physician at the Troop Medical Clinic located at the Kuwait Naval Base. When he returned stateside, he saw clinic, cared for hospitalized patients, and delivered babies in Newport, Rhode Island while attached to Naval Health Clinic New England.
Wanting to run his own clinic his way, he resigned his commission in 2007. Dr. Peffley drove the family mini-van across the US to open his own private practice. He designed a logo, picked a color scheme, and rented a 750 square foot office space in Dallas, Oregon. On November 1, 2007, he opened Oregon Family Health. That day, he saw a grand total of one patient.
Aside from seeing patients in clinic, he is the medical director for the Dallas Retirement Village Health Center, the Chief of Medicine on the Medical Executive Committe at West Valley Hospital, and a member of the WVP Board of Governors. He continues to drill in the US Navy Reserve, returned from deployment to CUBA in 2015-2016, has been selected for promotion to Captain (O6).
Billy Peffley grew up in Fullerton, California with his parents, an older brother, and a younger sister. After one season of wrestling, he played water polo and swam for the high school team for two years. His senior year, he was the high school mascot, Willie Ug.
He started college at the University of Oregon's Architecture Program. He quickly learned that being an architect was not for him so he enrolled in a Physiology Course (recommended by a girl he'd met.) He loved it, deciding to pursue his pre-med requirements. He changed his major to Psychology - coincidentally the same major of that same girl.
When he wasn't studying, Billy was enjoying football games at Autzen and basketball games at Mac Court. To get closer to the action, he became the Oregon Duck. He was the mascot for the football and men's basketball teams for two years (1991-92, 1993-94).
He also continued to court the girl he'd met his freshman year, and in 1995, married the Ashland, Oregon native. Together, they have lived in Eugene, OR, Chicago, IL, Bremerton, WA, and Newport, RI while collecting four children along the way.
In 2008, the Peffleys added one more member to the family ... a chocolate lab mix, named Doug. But they call him Steve. (Michael Keaton in "Multiplicity") There will be no more additions to the family until grandkids arive ... which is not actively being encouraged.
Outside of medicine, passions include road trips, Duck football, and designing birthday cakes for his children.
