Dr. Lucas grew up in Ohio, the eldest of five children. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps where he became a navigator on C-130s. Utilizing the GI bill, he then obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Soon thereafter, he enrolled at and graduated from Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. Accepting a commssion as an officer in the US Navy, completed his internship and residency at Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington. There he met Dr. Rebecca Wankum who eventually became his wife and is now the director of the West Valley Hospital Emergency Department. It was also in Bremerton where he met Dr. Peffley whom he came to join at Oregon Family Health.
